We really didn't need another buck to add to the herd; but when this handsome guy became available, we couldn't say no! We first saw this buck at a show in 2016 when he walked into both rings and won his class (ahead of our Ice Man!), then went on to be GCH Buck in one ring and RGCH buck in the other ring. The general appearance of this buck is absolutely striking!
Night-Jam's dam, Otter Grove M Mayzee 1*M EEEV 90 has a show record of 1x GCH and 2x RGCH. And she MILKS! As a 2yr old, Mayzee milked 305 days for 790 lbs of milk, 6.3% butterfat, and 4.7% protein. As a 3yr old, she again went 305 days for 930 lbs of milk, 6.0% butterfat, and 4.5% protein. Mayzee's progeny are also proving themselves in the show ring; she is the dam of Mistwood LJJ Misha (1x RGCH Jr doe) and Mistwood LJJ Jacobs Java (1x RGCH Buck) and obviously our Night-Jam (1x GCH Buck, 1x RGCH Buck).
Night-Jam's sire, Sweet Syringa's Latin Java Joe VV+ 85, has also produced several notable offspring in the show ring. His progeny includes Dairy *Meadows LJJ Karma Baby (1x GCH Jr Doe, 1x RGCH Jr Doe), and both Misha and Jacobs Java (mentioned above; they are full siblings to our buck Night-Jam). Java Joe was born in 2014, so his kids are still young and we will likely be seeing more show up in the show ring!
Night-Jam does not currently have any registered progeny by no fault of his own. We are making some room for him on the 2018 Breeding Schedule; I'm excited to see what he can do in our herd!
Night-Jam was tested negative for CAE, CL, and Johnes at the time of purchase in Sept 2017. He will be tested annually with the rest of our herd going forward.
